The Evangelical Presbyterian Church in South Africa (EPCSA) joined the Valoyi Traditional Community, the people of Limpopo and the nation at large in bidding a dignified farewell to Hosi Dr TLP Nwamitwa II, who was laid to rest following a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 held at Valoyi Vatsonga Cultural Village on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
The official status of the funeral was required by Dr Phophi Ramathuba and granted by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, reflecting the profound impact and stature of Hosi Nwamitwa II’s leadership and service.
In a moving display of honour and respect, the cortege was led from the Royal Kraal to the funeral venue by the EPCSA Moderator, Rt Rev Adv SPH Nyambi. Upon arrival, he opened the proceedings with prayer and delivered a brief homily, ministering words of comfort and hope to the royal family, dignitaries, and mourners gathered to pay their final respects.
The programme included full ceremonial honours by South African Police Service, after which their formal withdrawal was granted by His Excellency the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Paul Mashatile. As the service drew to a close, the Moderator pronounced the Benediction, marking the solemn conclusion of the funeral.
Hosi Dr TLP Nwamitwa II was not only a revered traditional leader but also an integral member of the EPCSA family and a recipient of the Lydia Shihlomulo Memorial Order. Her life was characterised by courage, dignity, faith and steadfast leadership. The Church continues to uphold her loved ones and the Valoyi community in prayer, trusting that the God she served faithfully will grant comfort and peace in this season of mourning. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
