The Evangelical Presbyterian Church in South Africa (EPCSA) has entered a new chapter of leadership following the successful conclusion of its 43rd Synod, hosted by the Malamulele Presbytery from 16–19 October 2025.
We are pleased to announce the election of Rev. Adv. Shirilele Patrick Hlekulani Nyambi as Moderator of the EPCSA, a role he previously held from 2013 to 2019. His first tenure was marked by remarkable stability, visionary leadership, and significant growth across the church. His return to the helm is met with great anticipation and hope.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Nyambi emphasized the importance of African Theology in shaping the spiritual and cultural identity of the church. He also passionately called for the completion of the EPCSA Conference Centre in Valdezia, a long-standing vision that symbolizes growth and development in the church.
These priorities signal his intent to lead the EPCSA into a new era of milestone achievements, theological depth, and institutional growth.
Leadership Transitions
Rev. Nyambi succeeds Rev. GS Moyane, whose term was also distinguished by notable accomplishments and steadfast service. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Moyane for his dedication and leadership.
Other key leadership changes include:
Rev. TJ Mayayise elected as Deputy Moderator, succeeding Rev. RN Khoza.
Rev. P. Ndlovu appointed as Deputy General Secretary, taking over from Rev. SK Maphophe.
This newly elected leadership collective, joined by Rev. TDY Sombhane (General Secretary) and Rev. R. Kubayi (General Treasurer), whose roles are appointed on contract rather than elected, brings together a wealth of experience, spiritual depth, and unwavering commitment to the mission of the EPCSA. We extend our best wishes to them as they lead the church into its next chapter.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the outcomes of the 43rd Synod, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of our church community. With Rev. Nyambi’s renewed leadership and a dynamic team by his side, the EPCSA is poised to deepen its impact, expand its reach, and continue its journey of transformation. May God bless this leadership team and the entire EPCSA family as we walk together in faith, unity, and purpose.
